The Club is taking registrations for the “A-Team.”  This program is for boys and girls who have Autism, High Functioning Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome or other communication disorder.  This program takes place in our already established Summer Program.  Participants must be entering 1st grade in September 2011 and 13 years or younger through August 26, 2011.

The A-Team Program is designed for children with Autism, who might otherwise have difficulty engaging in social relationships.  It is created to fill the gap when summer arrives and school programs finish, before the new school year begins.  Our A-Team members will have the opportunity to participate in the same programs and activities that our summer program members will be involved with, alongside their peers.

This program is designed to provide ALL children access to positive, social programs during the summer months.  A-Team members will participate in our arts & crafts, karate, theater, dance, and tumbling classes as well as swimming and swim lessons, alongside their typically developing peers.  A-Team members can fish, compete in structured contests, or play in our playground or on the grounds.  Whatever activity an A-Team member chooses to participate in, they are guaranteed the opportunity to play alongside existing “typical peer” members and practice socialization skills and form friendships.  A trained adult will be available to support their social and communication needs and provide direct instruction to assure successful interactions.

The child will become a member of the Blackstone Valley Boys and Girls club and would be present at the Club for a total of 5 hours per day Monday through Friday.  Activities your child may participate in:  arts & crafts, swimming, daily competitions, fishing, dance, theatre, karate.  Drop off is at 9:30am; pick up is at 2:30pm.   You can provide a lunch or buy from our concession stand.

The “A Team” program has 6 sessions starting July 11, 2011, ending August 19, 2011.   The tuition for each session costs $400, which includes a $20 membership fee that lasts for one year.  Tuition may be paid by cash, check, MasterCard or Visa.  Fundraising option available upon request to reduce your fee.

Registration packets are available at the Club office at 115 Canal Street, Blackstone, MA 01504.  Please contact Sarah at 508-883-6363 for more information.

Visit our A-Team webpage.

The  Club will have registrations for their February Vacation Program during office hours Mondays through Fridays 12-6pm and Saturdays 10-2pm.  The program includes breakfast, lunch and a snack, arts and crafts, movies,  games, computer time and tournaments.  Children will be allowed to play outdoors but they must have the proper snow suit attire (a winter jacket, snow pants, mittens/gloves, hat, scarf and snow boots), also a sled.  The program cost is $25.00 per child per day and the hours are 6:45am to 6:00pm.  The program starts Tuesday, February 22, 2011 to Friday, February 25, 2011.
