If your child has been diagnosed with Autism, High Functioning Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome or other communication disorder, he/she may be eligible for the Club’s “A-Team” program. The “A-Team” program is designed to provide ALL children access to a fun, positive, social program during the summer months. The Club understands that children with Autism frequently do not “fit it” with other children smoothly, although they yearn for the same kinds of opportunities that their peers engage in over the summer.
Children in our “A-Team” program would receive additional support within our already established “BVBGC Summer Program” design and will enjoy a positive, safe, and fun environment. Your child will become a member of the Blackstone Valley Boys and Girls Club. Whatever activity your child chooses to participate in, they are guaranteed the opportunity to play alongside existing “typical peer” members and practice socialization skills and form friendships. A trained adult will be available to support their social and communication needs and provide direct instruction to assure successful interactions. Activities your child may participate in throughout the day are: arts & crafts, swimming, daily competitions, fishing, dance, theatre, karate and outdoor play.
The Blackstone Valley Boys and Girls Club will begin taking registrations for the 2012 Summer Program during office hours, Mondays through Fridays, starting Monday, February 6th from 12pm-6pm and Saturdays, 10am-2pm. There is LIMITED ENROLLMENT!
The program runs Monday through Friday and starts June 18, 2012 and ends August 24, 2012. Children can enjoy the skate park, fishing area, daily events, field trips, outdoor pool and much more. There are two programs to choose from: the Extended program which runs from 7am to 6pm and the Basic program which runs from 9am to 4pm.
The age requirement is children must be entering 1st grade in September, 2012 and 13 years or younger through August 24, 2012. Registration forms are available in our office and on our Summer Program Page.
